Kenya is visa-free as of the beginning of 2024

The Kenyan President announced that his government has decided to remove visa requirements for all foreign visitors starting January 2024.

In his speech during the 60th Republic Day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi, Ruto said that from January 2024, Kenya will become a visa-free country.

He noted that an electronic travel permit will be granted to foreign citizens visiting Kenya, adding that the visa exemption system is in line with his administration’s endeavor to promote the growth of borderless tourism and trade.
President Ruto has called for the cancellation of entry visas for Africans visiting his country to achieve the integration agenda on the continent since he took power in September 2022.
Kenya became the second country in Africa to open its borders recently. On 3 November 2023 Rwanda announced visa-free travel for all Africans.
