The Fourth Regional Research Conference on Radicalization in Djibouti

The Center for Countering Violent Extremism, affiliated with the Intergovernmental Authority for Development (IGAD), organized a conference discussing: “Interventions to prevent and combat violent extremism.” At the Sheraton Hotel in the capital, Djibouti, the activities of the Fourth Regional Conference for Research on Violent Extremism and Terrorism began on January 29, 2024. This conference, which was opened by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the official spokesman for the government, Mr. Mahmoud Ali Yusuf, was held in the presence of the Turkish Ambassador to Djibouti, Mr. Cenk Oraz, European Union Ambassador Ms. Sylvie Tapisi, US Embassy Charge d'Affairs Mr. Christopher Snipes, and Director of the Center for Countering Violent Extremism Dr. Simon Nyambora.
The event attracted 27 researchers from the Horn of Africa and other parts of the continent who shared their visions on a presentation on strengthening capacities in designing, collecting, analyzing and writing gender-sensitive reports.
  It is worth noting that the Center for Countering Violent Extremism, affiliated with IGAD, aims to enhance the exchange of good practices and lessons learned in the region, with its growing network of researchers, and is keen to place research at the heart of the mission of preventing and countering violent extremism.
