Last Monday, the Popular Rally for Progress Party organized an extraordinary conference at the People’s Palace, under the patronage of the President of the Republic, Chairman of the Party, Mr. Ismail Omar Guelleh, coinciding with the celebration of the 45th anniversary of its founding on March 4, 1979.
  The opening proceedings of the conference took place in the presence of the First Lady of Djibouti, the President of the National Union of Djibouti Women, Mrs. Khadra Mahmoud Haid, the Deputy Chairman of the Party, the Prime Minister, Mr. Abdelkader Kamel Mohamed, its Secretary-General, the Minister of Economy and Finance in charge of Industry, Mr. Elias Moussa Douala, and the Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr. / Dilita Muhammad Dilita, members of the government, members of the party’s central committee, and the heads of the rest of the parties under the umbrella of the Union for the Presidential Majority, in addition to high-level delegations from the ruling parties in China, Rwanda, Ethiopia, and Kenya, and a large crowd of supporters of the Popular Rally for Progress Party, which He is considered the dean of political parties in Djibouti.
The opening of the conference included folkloric dances and singing performances by the March 4 Band, which embodied the pioneering role played by the Popular Rally Party for the sake of progress in developing the country and maintaining national cohesion.
The President of the Republic, Chairman of the Popular Rally Party, Mr. Ismail Omar Guelleh, delivered a speech at the opening of the conference, at the beginning of which he indicated that the party’s extraordinary conference this year coincides with the forty-fifth anniversary of its founding, explaining in this context, “The conference represents an opportunity for us to communicate together with enthusiasm.” And to express our pride in belonging to a political formation that has accompanied our country, since the day following its independence, on the path of its development.
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Party, the Minister of Economy and Finance in charge of Industry, Mr. Elias Moussa Douala, praised the party’s journey and the achievements it has achieved over 45 years. He also praised the efforts of the President of the Republic and the Party’s Chairman, Mr. Ismail Omar Guelleh, to preserve national values and gains, calling At the same time, young people must maintain unity and brotherhood, distance themselves from tribal fanaticism, and demonstrate true belonging to the homeland.
At the conclusion of the conference, the President of the Republic honored a group of figures who contributed to the success of the Popular Rally Party’s efforts to advance community service through its branches in the capital and the interior regions.
