The day before yesterday, Sunday, the Institute for Diplomatic Studies hosted an important symposium on sustainable management of natural resources, adaptation to climate change, food security and conflict prevention mechanisms at the core of a symposium at the Institute for Diplomatic Studies.
The opening session of this symposium, which was held in partnership with the European Union, was chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Government Spokesman, Mr. Mahmoud Ali Youssef,
In the presence of the Director of the Institute of Diplomatic Studies, Mr. Mohamed Abdelkader Musa, and the European Union Ambassador to Djibouti, Ms. Sylvie Tebassi.
The symposium provides a platform for experts, researchers and environmental policy content makers to exchange best practices and innovative strategies aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change and enhancing the resilience of local communities.
Climate change represents a major threat to food security in various parts of the world, as its effects include increased fluctuations in weather and climatic conditions, which affects agricultural production and reduces the efficiency of using natural resources such as water and soil, which ultimately leads to a reduction in agricultural production and a deterioration in harvest, which It has a negative impact on food availability and prices.
In his intervention, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation stressed the urgent need to hold this type of seminar dedicated to reducing the negative repercussions of climate change and the increasing insecurity in the Horn of Africa.
It should be noted that climate phenomena such as drought, floods, and violent storms cause the destruction of crops and affect access to food.
