From the first months of his term, during the Arta Conference, Ismail Omar Guelleh undertook the difficult task of rebuilding the Somali nation that had plunged into chaos after fratricidal wars. Despite the challenges, he was able to achieve solid reconciliation between the Somali brothers, which demonstrates his determination to achieve peace despite all odds.
More recently, Ismail Omar Guelleh shone by organizing rapprochement between Somalia and Somaliland through agreements that opened a promising cycle of talks.
Each time, his strategic prowess and mediation genius were decisive, creating a climate of trust among stakeholders. His vision helped lay the foundations for peaceful cooperation in a region often characterized by tensions.
As Chairman of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Ismail Omar Guelleh has brought new momentum to the negotiation process between warring parties in Sudan. His leadership has laid the foundations for a peaceful and sustainable approach to conflict resolution, once again underscoring his central role in promoting peace at the regional level.
Hence, Ismail Omar Guelleh undoubtedly stands out as a man of peace, whose commitment to reconciliation and stability has had a significant impact at both the national and international levels.
At the national level, we remember the Aba Accords of 1994, where he played a crucial role in reconciliation between the Front for the Restoration of Unity and Democracy (FRUD) and the government, during the Aba Accords. His ability to facilitate dialogue and find consensual solutions was a great asset in resolving this internal conflict.
From this standpoint, Djibouti, under the leadership of President Ismail Omar Guelleh, has become a true haven of peace. His vision, which focused on peace, national unity, and social cohesion, was at the heart of this transformation. The President considers these values essential priorities to ensure the stability and well-being of the nation.
In light of all the elements, we can only say that he truly embodies the idea of a committed statesman, ready to work for the collective welfare. At the same time, President Guelleh worked to strengthen Djibouti's diplomatic relations on the international scene. His leadership at the helm of the African Union has strengthened Djibouti's voice in continental discussions, demonstrating its desire to actively contribute to regional and global issues.
