An official visit of the French Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Armed Forces to Djibouti

Since the day before yesterday, Thursday, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Catherine Colonna, and the French Minister of the Armed Forces, Mr. Sébastien Lecornu, have arrived on a working visit during which the French delegation is holding discussions with the President of the Republic, Mr. Ismail Omar Guelleh, and with their Djiboutian counterparts, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the official spokesman. On behalf of the government, Mr. Mahmoud Ali Youssef, and the Minister of Defense, in charge of relations with Parliament, Mr. Hassan Omar Muhammad Burhan.

The talks between the two sides during these meetings will address the issue of negotiations on reviewing the Defense Cooperation Treaty (TCMD) and reaffirming the strategic partnership between Djibouti and France, within the framework of friendly relations based on close cooperation in all fields. The two parties' discussions will also address the latest developments in the situation in the region, and discuss common challenges, including combating terrorism and problems related to global warming.
